This is my first Cameron Dane book and it won’t be my last. A Younger Man is about a divorced man, Noah Maitland who has come out of the closet at 42 and a young man who is still a virgin and has never thought of having a relationship with a man, Zane Halliday. So right off you might think older guy predator, naïve young man prey. Not going to happen that way, Cameron does a brilliant job writing this story.
Noah is your every day great guy, owner of his own handyman business and someone everyone likes. Zane is a young man with custody of his stepbrother and sister, having lost his Mother and Stepfather. Forward and we find Noah at a building to take a look at doing some repairs when he sees an oversized man push a younger man away from the building literally right in to Noah. Zane is getting evicted. TaDa, Noah and Zane meet. Feelings are felt on both sides but neither really knows what to make of them. Noah ends up getting Zane and his small family a cabin at the lake where Noah lives and also gives him the use of a car. Now Zane knows he feel something for Noah, and Noah knows he feels something for Zane.
I don’t like giving away much of the story line, I don’t enjoy spoilers and I hope to never include any in my writings. So as we delve further in to the story I will get a little more vague about what is happening.
The first half of the book is about Zane and Noah developing a friendship and sorting out the feelings that they have for the other. The author also lets us see a great character in Zane, the things that he did and does every day to keep his family together, while having an Aunt that would want nothing more than to take his brother and sister and a loan shark lurking in the shadows.
I felt Zane was the main character of the story and I got the most out of him from the author. His character was more complex and you couldn’t help but really fall in love with the guy. Like I said earlier Noah is a GREAT guy, loved by his two sons and in a cordial relationship with his ex wife. Noah’s father being the only barrier in his life, his acceptance of Noah divorcing and coming out of the closet was not understood.
When Noah and Zane finally get together (we all knew they would so no spoiler) the sex is amazing. I am usually the first one to say that I do not like or enjoy long page after page sex scenes. I can throw in a movie for that. I am going to step away from that statement for this book. The sex scenes were stimulating and worthy of reading every word. I don’t know how she did it, maybe the build up to the mating or the virginal aspect of it. Cameron you get an ovation for the sex in this book.
This is of course a Happily Ever After. I felt so happy that I went on this journey of Love and Devotion with Zane and Noah.
