Wow, this was a fun read and a bit different for GA Hauser. This story has Mystery, Intrigue, Murder and Romance all rolled in to a great read. We first find “Cody” in Rome at the St Regis after coming off of an assignment. We also have a trio of street musicians, Beau (gay), Eden (bi) and Roberto (straight). These are the main characters in this story and I have to say; I was really drawn to the Trio, the way the author portrays them was brilliant as the reader you really felt the depth of respect and love these guys have for each other, they live their 3 lives as one. The Romance part of the story is between “Cody” and Beau, they first notice each other as the Trio is playing by the fountains in front of the Hotel and “Cody” is standing on his balcony taking in Rome at night. As “Cody” takes in the view of the street his eyes come across Beau who is also looking around. “Cody” and Beau lock on to each others eyes. When Beau looks back “Cody” is gone and his lights are off…..what happens after is a fast moving action packed story you won’t want to put down.
I personally love a mystery/spy story, one of my favorite movies is the Bourne series. This book has it all; reading the story you feel yourself meld in to the crowd in Rome, feel the pain of the knife cuts, the pain of the bullet and the heat of the fire. I almost wanted to run to the shower to remove the blood.
The relationship that grew between our characters, it really tugged on my sappy romantic heart strings. I cheered and rooted our characters on as they traversed through assassination attempts and forces trying to pull them apart. The forces not only from the outside, but feelings from the inside, the heart. The feelings for each other and where the lives of each would progress in the future was well written and emotional. I really liked the outcome of the story and can envision this as a Movie (just a thought and a Premier in Torino, oolala). Good Job GA Hauser another successful book, thank you for the experience.
