Let’s Meet a Character:
Hello, can you tell us your name and who you are, please?
Hello. My name is Lady Charlotte and I’m a singer at The Rainbow Lounge, which is situated just outside the centre of Nottingham.
How do you know SIN and the others in this book?
Well it’s a little difficult as there is a lot I can’t reveal…Izzy would be upset if we drop too many spoilers, or say too much. I will say that I know SIN and his family very well, one way or another. (Smiles) I had a ringside seat, so to speak, where the happenings last year are concerned.
Do they know you from your work at The Rainbow Lounge? Can you tell us a little about this venue?
They have come to see me perform, yes. At Christmas they even brought Sally and Snowy with them…they are SIN’s parents, lovely people, you couldn’t meet nicer….I think they enjoyed themselves…well I know Sally did…she loves a boogie with a room full of sweaty gay men…well who wouldn’t? (Laughs)
The Rainbow Lounge is a gay bar and drag club. It’s very classy, a bit expensive, but that means we …the performers… get nice sets and a bigger stage… and better lighting. It all costs money you know and the owners have to make some profit. Anyway, the décor is smart and looks almost as nice in daylight, as it does at night …and that isn’t usually the case… but it means upstairs they can do coffees, soft drinks and food during the day. The customers are very different then, families, shoppers, ladies lunching etc. It always has a lovely atmosphere, the owners are very proud of what they’ve achieved.
Who are the owners?
Oh I really couldn’t say…it doesn’t come out until the sequel, so to speak.
So what do you think about the happenings in Soul Mate for SIN?
Well…I was involved…well I mean I heard all about it…terrible, but bad things happen to good people all the time, and they are good people SIN, Gabe, Snowy, Sally and their friends. The love story that came from the ‘incidents’ is wonderful, and I’m convinced they are soul mates especially after what SIN said….oops can’t tell you that. (Mouths ‘sorry’) It’s so heart-warming to see a family develop organically the way the Newton’s has. Not everyone has a family, which understands or accepts LGBTQ people the way they do. Families are not necessarily biologically connected.
What do you think the readers will get from Soulmate for SIN?
Well the author, Izzy, really cares about her characters…there are some funny bits…some sad bits…it’s very English, but then so is Izzy and there is a happy ending. Oh and there are some sexy bits, but I’m far too much of a lady to dwell on those… too much… (Blushes and smiles)
Well, thank you, Lady Charlotte, I’m sure the readers look forward to meeting you again soon.
Thank you, and come and see me at The Rainbow Lounge if you are ever in the area.
The Book Description:
The effects of an attack on SIN, a twenty-nine year old University lecturer, reach out further into his future than SIN could ever imagine. In a story, which seems doomed to start with an end, SIN learns about the forever kind of love, and how family is not just biological. ‘Soul-Mate for SIN’ shows how twists of fate can take a loving, but ordinary family, from a small market town in Lincolnshire, England and turn them into something extraordinary.
Let’s Meet the Author:
Izzy van Swelm is English, but took her Mother in Law’s maiden name as a pen name. Izzy dreams of a world where all sentient species have rights and respect. A world where LGBTQ lovers and friends, old and young, can walk holding hands meeting nothing more than the occa-sional affectionate eye roll. A world where intelligence, gentleness and compassion are the overwhelming attributes of politicians, and religion is practiced by those who believe, but never forced on those who do not.
Izzy is a romantic, a dreamer, a vegetarian and just a little eccentric. Izzy writes because she loves to tell stories, and she hopes that her stories will bring happiness, enjoyment and maybe to some…a little hope.
