For me this story was loads of fun, it was sexy, had comedic relief, it was full of angst and the story line was engaging. This is a real page turner as the action never stops, not action in the bang bang style but in the lives of our characters. Sue has built a wonderful cast of intriguing and likable characters. Morgan and Shae were together 5 yrs ago until Shae caught Morgan screwing Olivia. Morgan has a new boyfriend Jase, an up and coming film star and Shae lives in Austin with his daughter.
Everything is going OK in Morgan’s life, he has a hot boyfriend and he is gaining respect in the film industry as a PA. That is until that fateful afternoon when Morgan bumps into Shae on the street and it sets off an unraveling effect of Morgan’s life. Secrets come out of stories never told that upends everyone’s lives.
Have you ever read a book where you couldn’t wait to read the next page because of the anticipation that the author has instilled in you as you are reading? For me this is one of those books, the story was written in a way that I received a couple of shockers but mostly the writing hinted at what might happen in the upcoming pages, leaving it to your imagination until Sue gave us the reveals. Morgan and Shae are destined, they have been in love with each other since the age of 15, it’s one of those true love stories. You won’t get one of those true love dandelion fields and rainbows but this is true love between two masculine men. They are also real characters, Sue managed to give them real emotions, a times a little far fetched but none the less it was good. One of the funny parts of the story was how Shae was taken with Jase and even asked for his autograph.
There is always something I look for in my stories and that is a good character description. I want to visualize the characters in my head as the author tells me about them. I didn’t get that image with this book. It isn’t enough to tell me that a character is 6’2″ and built. Look at the guy on the cover in the white t-shirt, for me he is hot with his hairy chest and eyes. I don’t know which of the characters in the book this is supposed to be, so for me the characters felt a little flat. For this book I’m going to give it somewhat of a pass because there was so much going on in the story that it really kept my attention and it almost made the character descriptions irrelevant.
This is my first foray into the world of Sue Brown and I am anxious to read something else by her.
