Was it on purpose, that this cabin in the Scots pines looked and smelled like the one on Mt. Moriah, the piece of kindling wood where he and Alex had fucked and fought and fallen in love? He wanted to cry like a child. He wanted to walk out the door, the way he’d done in Nevada when he thought his lover had betrayed him. But he sat, dumb with choked-back emotion, while the man talked.
“Let me take off this freaking jacket first.” He allowed Alex to unbutton the coat, to slide it from his shoulders and toss it to the foot of the bed.
“I know you remember, love. Our mountainside cabin. I can’t smell pine wood without remembering. Without a hard-on thick as a tree trunk.” He was standing between Rory’s knees, eyes burning and snapping like a bonfire.
His fingers, slender and mobile, began to unbutton the western-style shirt. With thumb and forefingers caressing and pinching both nipples at once, he leaned into Rory’s mouth and began to lick the mustache, then the lips. One knee nestled on his crotch, pressing against the stiff Levi’s.
He pulled back a little. “Tell me you haven’t forgotten.”
“Never … nae, never.” The words seemed congested in his mouth. He could not look away from the inferno of Alex’s eyes.
“I need to tell you something, Rory. I haven’t said it often enough. Maybe because I’m new to this … this whole partner thing.”
Rory strained to hear the words, but Alex chose that moment to kneel and begin to unfasten the top metal button on his jeans. He felt his cock pounding on the prison of his zipper, begging to be let out.
“Tell me, Alejo.”
“Lie down. At the head of the bed.”
Speechless, he obeyed. His head thrown back on the only pillow, he felt Alex pulling off his boots, then his jeans. The man was moving so slowly he wanted to shout, Faster, goddammit! But he lay quietly, waiting for the words. His cock, finally released, was throbbing damn near against his navel, his balls turgid and ready.
He felt movement, heard the sound of a belt … snick snick snick … moving through the loops of jeans. And then Alex’s voice close to his ear.
It was an order. The tone was laced with passion.
“Tell me first.”
“You heard me. I need to see that fucking sexy ass.”
Naked now, he turned, his face in the pillow. He felt one hand being grasped, then his arm stretched over his head. Something … Alex’s leather belt … bit into his wrist. His lover fastened his hand to the dowel and reached for the other. In a few minutes, Rory was tethered to the bed, roped like a Nevada rodeo calf. He began to lift his ass and let it fall, his entire body moving with the rhythm of his frantic heartbeat.
His lover’s lips in his ear, another rasping command: “Spread for me, dammit.”
The tongue in his ear was infinitely slow, exploring the labyrinth inside, replaced by the honey drip of his murmur. “Before I punish you, Rory, you need to know something very important.”
The Kilt Complex finds former state trooper Alex Dominguez out of his element—on the shore of a distant sea, far from the comfort of his Nevada mountains, guilt-plagued for rejecting the bed of his handsome lover. Castle laird Rory, whose life mantra has always been cum and go, is uncharacteristically flustered by his own deepening feelings for dark-eyed Alex.
The singular act of Alex’s moving out of the castle seems to spark both men to come to terms with their intense love affair. Can each of them overcome deep-seated guilt and build a solid relationship on the hot coals of desire?
Tracking the story of a lost dog, the men become enmeshed in a deadly chain of events. From the perilous cliffs on the North Sea to the grounds of the Scottish Parliament, and from the luxury of a millionaire’s digs to the rude oak barrels of a native fisherman, Rory and Alex find they must finally confront their complex feelings for each other in order to survive the trap of a killer.
