I have to admit, at the beginning of the story I didn’t like either character that much. Joshua was a spoiled brat wanting more money from his father to fund his jet setting life. Ezra came off as a pretentious jerk who ruled over a huge business. But once I got to know these guys, my opinion changed quickly.
Joshua dropped out of college his freshman year to take off around the world. He had no desire to work for his father’s company and instead decided to live off of the money he was given while spending months at a time in different countries. As long as it was hot, preferably with a beach and as far away from England as possible, he was happy.
Ezra seemed to come from nowhere to suddenly run a multi million dollar company. With no ties to speak of, he was the head of Silverton Industries. His only loyalty was to his teen brother, everyone else was forgettable. People used him for money, he used them for sex and then quickly forgot about them. Until the night that Ezra and Joshua met in a bar and everything changed.
Both Ezra and Joshua evolved quite a bit throughout the book. They both seemed to want to hang on to the hard won personas but each could see the other for what they really were. I also enjoyed Joshua’s cousin and Ezra’s brother. Joshua’s travel buddy/ best friend annoyed me but I have a feeling I will change my thoughts on him in the next book.
The sex in the book between the two was HOT HOT HOT. But above that, it was also tender at times. Sure, we all love to read about a good session between the sheets, but hearing them kissing and hugging because they couldn’t help themselves makes the sex that much hotter in my opinion.
The book had great editing and really flowed. I wasn’t hampered by misspellings or bad punctuation- which can really bug me. Even with Joshua’s friend being American, the author never seemed to struggle switching from American to English grammar and slang. It was quite refreshing.
I am giving this great book 4 out of 5 stars. I see a lot of people giving it 5 stars, but I *rarely* if ever give books 5 stars. It has to be absolutely perfect for that to happen. While this book isn’t perfect in my eyes (so few are), it is quite nearly perfect. I’ve read earlier works by this author and can see the maturity changing with every novel.
After years of travelling the world using his trust fund, college-dropout Joshua Silverton returns to London to discover two shocking truths; his estranged and wealthy father has been dead for over a year and he left his fortune to a total stranger. Joshua soon meets the man who stole his inheritance and even though he expects to hate Ezra Steele, he can’t ignore the strange attraction he suddenly feels towards him.
Bill Silverton saved Ezra Steele from his troubled past when he signed Silverton Tower over to him on his deathbed. Ezra now has the house, the business, the cars, the money and a different man in his bed every night. It’s a life he wants to cling to, so when Bill’s gorgeous son unexpectedly turns up and demands he hand everything back, his life is turned upside down in more ways than one.
A need to finally prove himself to his dead father forces Joshua to challenge Ezra but will he be able to ignore the attraction in order to be ruthless? Ezra tries to keep his enemies close by getting Joshua into his bed but as history catches up with him, he is forced to face himself. They are both running from their past, so in a battle between head and heart, Joshua and Ezra must choose what is more important – money or each other.
