I’m not sure about Book 2 and for me it just solidifies that I do not enjoy Book Serials. Episode One had a purpose and it did a great job of letting the reader get to know the characters and what the Lost Boys Academy was all about.
Episode Two seemed like it was a bit lost. The name of the series is called Lost Boys Academy, I would have thought that I’d be seeing more “Therapy” type things. The scene where the parents visited and they all sat in a circle to discuss their kids, nothing happened. Then the shopping trip to get uniforms felt so out of place it was a bit uncomfortable to read because I didn’t accept Mr. Pierce’s explanation that the boys needed to acclimate themselves in any environment to hold back their urges, because going to the “Gayborhood” to get fitted for uniforms was such an everyday occurrence.
My final thoughts; if Book 3 finishes up and clarifies action that took place in Book 2 then the books should be combined because Book 2 left me feeling really lost on where this series is going. I want to like this series I really do, I think the author has given us a really diverse cast of characters, placed them in a setting with a great many possibilities, that leaves me wanting to find out how they make it through the Academy. Are they going to make it out unchanged or will some decide to hide the real person they are, to try and fit what the Academy would like to mold them into.
