This is a continuation of the book, Sarge. Sarge would probably kick my ass for saying this, I enjoyed the softer, comedic side of Sarge. We have Murphy to thank for that.
This book was more mission oriented than relationship oriented. Sarge’s and Murphy’s relationship is established and is even known among the crew. They are off of the planet and now on a ship travelling through space.
Bey Deckard has created a world that really sucked me in as a reader. This is a very military toned book as was Sarge, and then take the military to space and privatize it. Bey is able to create a story that his imagination is free to explore. Once his imagination takes root he lays it to word and WOW! Not being a big Sci-fi reader I felt really comfortable with these books. Bey writes about the characters, he writes about the situations his characters are in and uses the backdrop of space secondary, it really makes it is easier for a contemporary reader to connect with the characters.
