I have to tell you, while I was reading this book I kept thinking that I was reading a debut book. It was good and a bit rough at the same time, I actually did enjoy reading it until I got to the end and then the book fell apart for me, it left way to many parts of the book unanswered. I was left wondering about all of the “What’s” that needed answers to.
Like I just said, I did enjoy the story it was a heartwarming story that took us on a really cute romance, the story takes place within just a couple of days so that is the reason that it left so many topics open. Wade and Heath both work for the paper at Penn State and that is how they met. Wade is also the star quarterback and very much in the closet. Heath is a photographer, very out and is also the secret love interest of Wade. Starting to get the picture? Wade and Heath are on an assignment where they will be in New York to interview Boyd Savage an NFL player that has just come out to the public about being Gay. The book goes into great lengths to detail the interview and then we never hear about it again.
The really great part of this book is the 2 nights that Wade and Heath spent in a Hotel room. It was here that the characters opened up to each other and let their mutual attraction turn into desire. The author really nailed this part of the book, it was heartwarming and had a bit of heat. For me it is always refreshing when characters open up and not hide their feelings it is like an emotional bomb that really frees up a romance book.
The book title Out in Time I believe refers to Wade, he has set a specific time for his coming out. He wants 1 year in the NFL to live out his dream, unencumbered with the weight of coming out as gay and playing in the NFL. Does he? I don’t know. This is a book that I truly wanted to have an Epilogue.
