I adore Brenda Cothern’s Mad Dog series and have been re-reading some of them so I was over the moon to put my little wannabe were-claws on this story to read. The series really requires readers to start from book 1 as they are not stand alone, and you really need to read each story of these yummy characters. My other recommendation is for the reader to make a little note of the names of the characters because the writer often uses the letter of their names in the story and then sometimes throws the proper names, which you may find confusing. Overall, I struggled with this story a little, because it was a little hard to be in the story unlike how I had been in the previous series. However saying that, I still recommend that you read this story, as otherwise you will be lost by the next one, because this one had some significant events. I am not sure whether there was significance in the change of font sizes but I found myself distracted by the different font sizes in the story. Sometimes, it showed the dogs’ internal conversation with each other but at other times, I couldn’t understand the meaning of the changed font size. Nevertheless, this is a story of Mad Dogs and I refuse to let that get to me, so I continued to read and sometimes, re-read the paragraphs until it became clearer for me.
I adore Ms Cothern’s style because each character in the stories oozes with masculinity and has significant personality traits. B and M in the story are my favorite dogs and I was troubled to read B’s traumas. I love Duke !!! He is an anomaly in the story with a very important role. OMG! I am dying to read the next story. I have some hope for Duke and keep wondering whether he will have a mate? Eekk! So exciting! I highly recommend MM paranormal lovers read the series. It has action, romance, sizzling sexy scenes and a good plot.
After a disastrous R&R where none of the Dogs got any rest or relaxation, they have returned to Camp Smokey, but they are not the same Delta Unit.
Brian’s resurrection by Duke and Alec is only one of the new complications the Mad Dogs face when their sniper cannot control his feeding frenzies, even with Duke’s help.
With Doc still comatose and H suffering mate-loss grief and Markus and Duke having their hands full with Brian, Oh and El try to hold the pack together.
However, as the pack recovers, a new threat comes from a faction they never would have expected; their own Council.
Brenda is unlike most authors since she only began writing 2010. She never wrote fan-fic but has been an avid D&D player for over 35 years. Painting pictures and telling stories for gamers to see in their imaginations came naturally and now she does the same in her novels. She is an Amazon and ARe best-selling author and her love for reading fantasy, paranormal, and contemporary erotic romance has allowed her to apply her Bachelor’s degrees in management and marketing to her new career. Her first best-seller in 2012, Coming Home, was her first attempt at a short story and admittedly ‘shorts’ are not her forte. However, since then, almost every book she has published has made the best-sellers list on Amazon and/or Are (All Romance eBooks.)
