In Part 2, the plan’s afoot: Sid is setting up for the takedown of the Phillip Marn firm, Jack needs to do more than just catch Sid’s attention, he needs to insert himself… Hmm, moving on (it’s erotica, I’m allowed).
We have a little get-to-know-you scene with Sid’s partner, Larry, and the SO Richard. It’s a nice sideways look at Sid through the eyes of a man who’s not a fan (like we are?), and it offers a few hints about Larry’s motivations and potential looming crises (whether or not he’s a player down the road is TBD).
Larry and Sid duke it out over the game plan, poking at holes, bringing up what ifs, glossing over pitfalls, ignoring ethics (they’re lawyers, why is Sid even having those inner thoughts?). Good stuff.
On Jack’s end, we meet Lori, a badass chick with ’tude and git’er done work ethic. There are hints of Jack’s backstory and the sister, the contrived meeting with Sid and an offer Jack’s not going to refuse.
Enter the rest of Jack’s team, fleshing out personalities (I like Sweeney, lots), toys to play with (not those, techie stuff) and then…
Interested parties show up, surveillance happens, more backstory, covers blown…
And Raja’s a screamer.
Brandon Shire still has my undivided. Still highly recommended. Waiting for Part 3.
