Normally, I think in reviewing a book, the first part of the review should be a synopsis of the book’s storyline and characters. However, in this case, I am very hesitant to do one! I could talk about the storyline or the cast of characters, but it would spoil the surprise, and this book is full of surprises.
First of all, this book uses the adage that there is gay in every man to its utmost. You never quite know what is in any of the eight main characters minds, and it is a cast of surprises.
The ranch itself, where the story takes place, is a surprise. It is definitely not what is seems. Oh, there are horses and cowboys, but none of these are what they seem. The horses are saved horses, and the cowboys, well that is for you to find out for yourselves. The men of the ranch are not what I expected at all from the title and my
conception of what I was going to read. Again, surprises galore! And each one of them is someone you would love to meet, but that will probably never happen because of who they are. Oh, they are hunky, horse raising men on a ranch in Colorado, but that doesn’t even begin to give away the surprises in this fast-moving and gripping novel.
The time flew by as I was reading this book. I enjoyed every bit of what I read, and can’t wait to read more of this series! She has amazing, lusty sex scenes, twists and turns, and as I mentioned, surprises on almost every page. The last surprise is one that I didn’t appreciate nearly as much. The way she ended the story left me feeling angry and manipulated. Maybe this is what the author Sara York intended, but it sure was shocking to me. I don’t think I have every felt as “left in the air” as I did at the end of this first book of the series. That having been said, it worked, because I will be anxiously waiting to read the second book, and continue the Colorado saga.
