The premise of this story really gave me hope. We have Booker who is 19 years old and has always wanted to be a part of the Rodeo. We have Jed Hastings a tough foreman who is seriously unhappy with his current assistant Blake who never seems to be around. Booker had been sniffing around the rodeo looking for a job. Jed hires Booker and the story begins. Back to the premise, this really could have been a great love story and in it’s own way it was.
This story took a long time to be told. There were to many references that were retold and the story just sort of rambled on. Both of the Characters are pretty complex, neither of them ready to tell the other how they feel for the other. You would have thought it would have been easier to do so as they lived in a travel trailer. The travel trailer also was a catalyst for much of the angst that the characters went through. Once the characters accepted their feelings for the other they still wouldn’t say anything and they lived 4′ apart. Can you imagine how uncomfortable that feeling would be. The Author did an excellent job with this part of the story. I’ve read a couple of Cameron Dane books and I felt that this one wasn’t in par with the rest of her works. I always enjoyed her sex scenes and the scenes with Jed and Booker weren’t that exciting. The scenes were similar enough where you kind of scoot over them after awhile.
The writing was good but a bit drawn out, the characters were interesting and I really wish that they admitted their feelings for each other a whole lot sooner than they did.
