I found the Title and the polo ponies on the cover interesting. I have always been fascinated with the polo scene so I purchased the book. I really didn’t know what to expect when I started reading.
The book starts out with one of the Main Characters in the hospital after an injury sustained during a match. Preston Fawkes is not quite what I expected I found a man that had married twice with as many children. He is with his gay best friend Ned, friends since childhood. We meet one of Preston’s ex-wives and his son Conrad. His other ex-wife and daughter live in Argentina. After awhile the pain from the accident is so intense he is given a heavy dose of pain drip that puts him out. We are then transported back to 1976 where we find Preston as a 10 yr old youngster and we also meet Konrad at the age of 15. Preston has an obsession with everything Polo and Konrad becomes his friend and mentor. Konrad is an up and coming star in the polo world and he teaches Preston everything he knows.
The story of Preston and Konrad covers many years and over distances of Continents. The Author Mickie B Ashling does such a brilliant job in bringing this Love story to life. You cheer and cry for the Main Characters and swear at them the next. The story was interesting and well written. The end of the book is a surprise and not anything that you would have anticipated while reading.
