This is the first novella for Stevie Gonzalez. It is the story of Zy Stern and his co-pilot Bon Moreno. They are space freighter drivers, delivering supplies between the different bases that Mr. Gonzalez describes as “the various bases and colonies of the Outer Planet Region”. On a routine delivery to Titan, the two intrepid heroes unwittingly become involved in a scheme involving certain higher officials on Titan. They become the pawns in the effort, and end up jailed and accused of things they didn’t do. With the help of a couple of Titan dwellers, they eventually figure out the plot and get themselves off the hook.
Although the plot sounds pretty simple, the book itself is highly imaginative and creative. Mr. Gonzalez has spent a lot of time thinking about the freighter, the base, the transportation system within the base, and much more. He describes the different sections of the base, from the living quarters to the entertainment areas, and the life support area. It is a really fun read, and not a hard book to follow. All characters are human, and the main characters are well developed and lovable. There are a few scenes of sexy hotness, so that added to the pleasure of the book.
There are two following in the triad. I am looking forward to see where Mr. Gonzalez takes us in the next adventures of the astropilots.
