It seems I go from one sub-genre to another. I just finished a YA and then was able to pick up Kade Boehme’s second in the Keep Swimming series. Again, it was just what I needed. If you read Keep Swimming you will remember Heath’s business partner, Kyle. Kyle is funny, always seems to find himself in a relationship with closeted men, but seemed to keep his sense of humor.
Enter Eddie. Eddie had his whole life turned upside down because of being forced out of the closet in high school. His father beat him so badly that his father went to jail. It also made him mean and angry and, of course, closeted. He recently had just been released from the pen himself when he walks into a gay sports bar and meets none other than Kyle. The king of the closeted gay romance.
Eddie had the tattoos, the saggy pants and the whole thing that made him look like he was part of a gang. He was of Mexican decent but had dark blue eyes. He also was starved for affection and love and decided that Kyle was just the guy to give him what he was sorely lacking.
Although there isn’t a ready-made family in this book like there was in Keep Swimming, the sentimental romance was still there. The struggle to be accepted was still there and the two men that learned they didn’t want to live without each other, yes, that was also still there.
As with Keep Swimming, I loved every word. I STILL love Kade. AGAIN, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR THE COTTON CANDY, EMOTIONAL-TYPE READER! Thanks for writing another sweet romance, Kade. I loved it.
Ex Coast Guardian Kyle Bevins is a joker, a friend, and unlucky in love. His friends know he’s a good guy to turn to if for nothing other than a much needed laugh, but he rarely heeds his own advice. He’s content as the new co-owner of his friend’s charter fishing company in Pensacola Beach, Florida, but he’s missing the companionship of having a significant other and tired of the old hookups.
Eddy Jiminez is unlucky, period. He’s been dealt most every negative consequence of being gay. He’s also an ex-con, so he figured he’d play it safe, keep working hard and trying to forget that it was men he craved. But when he meets Kyle, he can’t stop going back for more, but tired of the lies and hurting, he doesn’t want to give Kyle up.
Kyle would do anything to keep Eddy from drowning again, so he decides to see him safely into the big world of being Out but a past connection may ruin everything. Will there be a second chance for both of them, or will their relationship go under?
