Guest Blog with Sean Thomas:
I’m a big fan of paranormal fiction. Most of what I read has a fantasy or science fiction aspect to it. Looking back, I was always this way, reading series like Animorphs, Harry Potter, and
anything by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. I didn’t realize early on that I was looking for romantic stories in a world surrounded by magic or amongst the stars.
For years I read Urban Fantasies without the realization that many of the titles fell into the romance genre. I’m a big fan of Allyson James’ Stormwalker series and it wasn’t until recently
that I discovered she also writes romance as Jennifer Ashley. I spent years joyfully reading novels with happy ever afters and yet I couldn’t help but crave m/m love stories. There were only
so many titles on the shelves at my local library and bookstore, and after devouring those I felt a pang of loss. Where were the gay heroes who fought crime and got the guy in the end? Were
there books where someone’s lover hadn’t died or the main character had to battle HIV? I understood, and understand to this day, the need for these books but I longed for a relatively happy story where two men fell in love. I wanted my happy ever after.
So, I decided to write my own.
My debut novel, The Boy and His Wolf, started off as a scene in my head. It was between two former lovers who reconnected and as I wrote, the overall plot began to develop. In my novel, Tanner is a human who fell in love with Dash, a werewolf. They’ve been separated by years and by distance, but now Tanner must come back to Amber Pines, Colorado after Dash’s Alpha is murdered. To make matters worse, something sinister is lurking in the woods of Tanner’s small mountain town and it’s not his wolfishly good looking ex-boyfriend. Tanner, a once self-conscious teenager is now trained in the art of ass-kicking by one of the world’s deadliest Hunters. Dash, who always sported a rockin physique, has somehow evolved into a more muscular version of himself. Put both men in a room together and one way or another something is going to happen.
The Boy and His Wolf is a story of second chances and true love. It is a story about coming home and finding that piece of yourself that you hadn’t realized was missing. I am happy to share my
story with you.
The Boy and His Wolf: A Wolves of Amber Pines Novella (The Wolves of Amber Pines Book 1) – Amazon UK
The Book Description:
Tanner never thought he’d be back in Amber Pines or back in Dash’s bed.
But four years and 1,000 miles wasn’t enough distance to make him forget the power of first love. Sure, he spent his time training with one of the world’s top Hunters and he’s no longer the scrawny teenager he used to be. But now that his former pack is threatened, Tanner is again involved in the dangerous life he thought he left behind.
Do Tanner and Dash have a second chance or has his werewolf made his heart as impenetrable as his body? With an all-out battle raging, Tanner must find his place in the new Amber Pines or be shut out forever.
