I was in search of something calming after reading a couple of heavy hitters. Then, within twelve hours, I have read two that have made me cry like a baby and that is far too many in a 12-hour period. I could tell you it’s my mood, but I’d be lying. This is a beautiful story of two men finding their way to love with a small four year old obstacle being one of the cutest things keeping them from a real relationship.
Heath is a bi man that had been married to a woman in the past. He is a tough roughneck who works on an oil rig with big dreams of owning a small fleet of yachts to rent out so that he can finally quit working on the rig and be himself. He’s tired of living around the tough, homophobic men that are usually on oil rigs. His M/O is to never get involved or have a relationship. He really didn’t want to have a kid. He liked his lifestyle of living on his yacht, when he wasn’t working, and doing as he pleased.
Cory is the sweet single dad with a cute four year old boy. He had no choice but become a single father when his partner ran out on him after he found out that he wasn’t able to get the surrogate pregnant and Cory would be the father of their child. He was jealous and wanted a child that came from him, not someone else. Yes, he’s an ass. Cory does the best he can with a premature birth, building a new business with his dog bakery and mourning the loss of his relationship. After four years, he is finally on his feet, has a wonderful four-year-old son and they even volunteer and the animal shelter together. That’s where they meet Heath.
Heath sure wasn’t planning on falling for anyone, much less a single father with a four year old. After their first outing together on the boat, he became attached. It’s a beautiful story of give and take. A lot of sweet surprises, hot chemistry and an HEA creates the kind of sweet read that most of us can’t resist. In one sentence, it’s cotton candy sweet and a half box of tissues emotional.
I loved every word. I love Kade. Whatever he is doing lately has sure helped him write an exceptional book. There is nothing sweeter than a family finding their way to love. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR THE COTTON CANDY, EMOTIONAL-TYPE READER! Thanks for writing a beautiful book, Kade. Loved it!
The Book Description:
After his partner dumped him with a pregnant surrogate four years ago, Cary Whitmore was forced to play single parent while starting up a new business. With the dog bakery now semi-successful and his son healthy, Cary thinks he may be ready to date again.
Heath Cummings is trying his damnedest to get his charter boat service off the ground and dreams of one day soon being able to quit his job as an offshore driller. Paying off his dream requires making it through a couple more years, which means being open about his sexuality isn’t in the cards just yet.
When the two take their flirting to the next level, Cary wonders if he can handle another guy who might take off, while Heath has to decide if he can risk his dream of a laid back life—and giving up his long-held and much enjoyed bachelor status while taking on a child when being a father was never on his to-do list.
Will they sink, or will they keep swimming?
