Ay caramba! This series/serial is going to be tough to review because… cliffies, suspense, what the blooming H is going on?
Y’all know by now, I’m not a fan of cliffhangers and serials that are chapters or portions thereof that just stop, hit a wall, give the reader a gotcha middle finger salute, collect $$ and move on to the next. [Rant off]
But this is Brandon Shire, so I hitched up the granny panties and grumped as I clicked open Chapter One of Part One…
Let’s see, what do we have?
Unlikeable characters? Check the sleaze button
Murky moral fibers: check, check, check (lawyers, ’nuff said)
Set-up for back room deals that you think you know how it’s going down: uh-huh
Hints and allegations that there’s more here than meets the eye: d’oh
Hot man-on-man lust buzz: oh yeah, baby
Excellent writing: it’s Brandon Shire
Overturning my objections and snooty holier-than-thou ‘tude: no comment
I bought Part Two.
Don’t start, just don’t.
