Jamie has had enough. He has been best friends with Trevor, a seemingly straight Forest Service Officer, for years, and has finally gotten sick of it. He has decided to move and leave what he sees as a dead end relationship, an unrequited love.
They were to meet up for their usual morning run, and Trevor didn’t show up. Not uncommon for Trevor, and Jamie has put up with it many times, but this is the straw that breaks the camel’s back. Jamie decides to take his morning run anyway, and then leave the Colorado town for something new. But things don’t always go as planned. On his run, he stumbles across a man lying face down on the trail, and when Jamie checks to see if the man is still alive, he discovers that the man, laying near the trail close to death is no other than Trevor.
And thus begins a very well-written mystery novel that has all the suspense and tension as the best of them. The story pulls you in, and holds you for the duration of the book. The plot and characters are very well developed, and the emotion and tension is sustained throughout the story.
The relationship between Jamie and Trevor is in for dramatic changes, but with that comes the bad, homophobia, and family problems that go with it. Secrets and evil are part of the history of Trevor, but he has amnesia due to the hit on his head that he took before he was left for dead, so remembers nothing about it. The story is of the trust the two have for each other, and one friend helping another friend recover his memory, and hopefully figure out the answer to the many questions that keep developing as Trevor does regain his memory.
The plot will keep you guessing, and with the twists and turns that Christi throws in, the story never gets dull! The characters surrounding the two mains are surprising, heartwarming, hateful, and many other things along with it. And the romance and sex between Jamie and Trevor is hot and heavy.
I started reading Snowcroft Lost, and just kept reading. I love books that do that to me, and this one most definitely did. I highly recommend this for the romantic, sexy mystery that it is.
