Nikolai is a vampire and is 431 years old and Jace is a werewolf and is barely 18. Nikolai has given up on finding his mate and has immersed himself in his studies. Jace is attending the academy that Nikolai is Chancellor of and Jace does not want to be there. He acts out and is finally sent to the Chancellor’s office where upon entering he is overwhelmed with the scent of spiced vanilla and fresh wild flowers. The fates have decided that today is the meeting of the “Mates”.
This is a short story so the unfortunate thing about that is that the word short is relevant. What I mean by that is this has the makings of a Novel. This story was good, I enjoyed the the brief history of each of the main characters, I truly felt their mating bond and the mating was OK. Jace left a big smile on my face, he has a devil may care attitude and is a bit cocky, which I really enjoy in a character. I didn’t really connect with Nikolai much as the story is told through Jace. I can tell that Nikolai has untapped depth that needs a story and with Jace by his side it would be most enjoyable.
I enjoyed this short little work but as you can tell by my ramblings that the story left me unfulfilled as in needing more. Besides a few extra words in sentences in the beginning of the book I found this story enjoyable and it is the story telling of Dianna that has me yearning for more in the life of Nikolai and Jace.
Dianna please write a continuation of this story with these characters.
