This was a well written and engaging story. If you are anything like me losing my partner scares me and I can really relate to Richard in this book. Richard has lost his long time partner and is taking a trip to Ireland to get back to his roots from where his ancestors left behind. The trip has been insufferable and Richard is looking forward to the last day when he can finally get back home. Even though at home he is alone with no one around that cares.
Then Richard meets Brian a snarky but attractive young man that leads with his mouth. Thinking that Brian was after something, because really, why would someone as attractive as Brian have any cause to come on to a 62 year old man, Richard tries to distance himself from Brian. When Brian starts telling Richard about his looks, Richard cannot believe it, and it isn’t until he sees a reflection of himself some 40 years younger that he realizes something unnatural is taking place. The rest would be spoilers.
This book was very engaging I really like the twists that the author incorporated, it kept a short story like this full of action and intrigue. What Albert managed to pack into 46 pages was quite remarkable, it kept me intrigued but I never felt the story feeling rushed. The combination of magic, mystery and comedy was well balanced and I really loved the ending even though it left the door open for a sequel.
Richard is magically made young again, but there’s a price attached to his youth.
One lifetime of experience, and suddenly magic. Richard has come to Ireland to reflect on years gone by, not to become mixed up in the affairs of the fairy folk. The handsome stranger he meets will not be denied, however. He makes Richard young again- for a price.
