Okay this was one book that I did not like much but I think I’m in the mood to be generous so I’m giving it two stars anyway. So, the whole thing with this book is that the writing, while you cannot call it bad because there are no real problems I can pinpoint (one exception being the one million exclamation points), but it was just very mediocre in idea and plot and just about everything. The main character just didn’t do it for me. He sounded childish and pseudo and despite the fact that horrible stuff happens to him I couldn’t really care because of the incredibly cheesy monologue throughout the book that constantly came in the way of me enjoying that part of the story. Another pet peeve of mine is the whole religion bit but I could have gone past that if it hadn’t been for the awkward monologue of the main character throughout the book. This just wasn’t my thing I guess.
This classic gay BDSM novel, set near the end of the Viet Nam war, has been out of print for almost 20 years. The Brig is a brutally dark erotic drama of a young sailor confined to a military prison where he tortured with pain, fear, sexuality, and mind games to force changes in his psyche and break his spirit. The sailor learns things about himself and his captors that will transform him and challenge those who hold him.
