My favorite in the series so far. I’ve met Kory in the last couple of books and he came off as very mysterious, he was a character that you could never really get a good pulse for. In this book I learned of the real Kory White and I liked it. I also remember Jon from the first book and the meeting of Kory and Jon, although it was brief, I could feel the attraction.
With this book it centered on the relationship between Jon and Kory, there wasn’t a real in depth plot or under story. The author instead focused on her main characters, she developed them individually and then as a couple. It seemed almost like the characters were setting the pace of the story, there wasn’t anything underlying that was pushing them in a direction, other than then one that they wanted to go on.
There was a bit of angst along the road as Kory learned to deal with Jon as a police officer and everything that the job entailed. There was also the loud and boisterous Brennan clan, which made me nervous meeting and I could feel Kory’s nervousness flowing from him also. These are just a couple of instances that gave depth and reality to this story that helped to bolster both Jon and Kory’s characters.
As I said earlier, this is my favorite. I feel that I connected with the Jon and Kory easier and I like their personalities a lot. I like that the story was based around them as a couple and that All Cocks didn’t play that large of role as it has in the first 2 books. It feels like the author has really found her groove with this book and I am in hopes that the rest of the series just keeps getting better and better.
