When asked to join the Virtual Book Tour for Sub-Dominant by Sage Marlowe I thought it would be a great opportunity to find out more about Sage.
You see I’ve never really had the chance to converse with Sage or read any of Sage’s books, I’ve always enjoyed Sage’s appreciation for the male from in Facebook posts but that is about the extent of my knowledge.
So anyways, I thought what a perfect opportunity to run some questions by Sage to learn more about this mysterious author and the books that seem to be so popular.
Author Interview with Sage Marlowe:
Thank you so much for hosting me on your blog today and thanks to everyone for stepping by. I appreciate the chance to lift some of the mysteries around my persona although you’d probably be surprised at how boring and quiet my life is *laughs*
What’s the best thing that happened to you today?
It’s Sunday morning, 6th of December, so St. Nicolas Day in Germany, where I live. My day started with my very excited four-year old daughter who wanted to see what St. Nicolas had brought her. Her happy little face when she found the treats was definitely the best thing that happened to me today.
What are you thankful for?
I’m thankful for having a healthy and happy child, a job I love and a loving partner
How do you plan on spending the Holiday Season?
As I work quite a lot throughout the year, the Holiday Season will be mostly about spending time with the family for me and just slowing down a bit to recharge my batteries.
If you had the power to create law, what would be the most important law you would create? (other than jail time for not using your turn signal while driving)
Ugh, tough one. I try to always look at the bigger picture and consider all possible angles, so I’m well aware that a law that might look like the ideal solution could have some unwanted side-effects. That being said, I’d probably make changes to tax law, so high earners pay more taxes than low-income families.
“Instead of complaining about your circumstances, get busy and create new ones.” Using this statement, what circumstance would you create for yourself?
One of my rules to live by! The only thing I’m not very happy about at the moment is the state of our house, so my partner and I are going to invest some money and time in the next couple of months to create a nicer home for our family
Now on to some book questions….
How did you begin writing and how long ago was it?
I began writing in February 2010 after a character showed up and just wouldn’t quit for weeks. All those weirdly intense scenes were playing on my mind and after a while I was whispering dialogues as I went around the house or drove to work. That was when I figured I’d either have to admit to all those voices chattering away in my head or try to silence them by writing down what they told me. Well, the first lot shut up but new ones have kept coming since.
Tell us about the Sub series and your most current book; Sub-Dominant.
The Sub-series, which starts with Sub-Mission, my debut novel, is, as the titles suggest, a series of BDSM-themed books. They are, however, not the usual BDSM stories. The focus isn’t on BDSM as a lifestyle so much as on the personalities of my characters and what effect the preference for kinky sex has on their lives. I’ve always been interested in exploring alternative lifestyles and what makes people tick, and that’s what I’m doing in my books. My characters are usually fairly realistic people facing everyday issues, but they have hidden depths and just love to prove people’s expectations wrong.
Sub-Dominant, for instance, is the story of three men who may look like an ideal match at first sight because hey, what could possibly go wrong with two Doms and a sub, but as soon as you scratch the surface, you’ll find that there’s a lot more to Eric, Connor and Tyler.
What mainstream actor would you choose to play the lead in Sub-Dominant, the movie?
Ohhh!!! *claps hands* This is exciting! My cast for Sub-Dominant would look like this:
Ben Barnes for the role of Eric Swann, Chris Pine as Tyler Kane and Jonathan Rhys Meyers as bratty Connor Prescott—a very young Jonathan, but OMG, those eyes! *swoons*
What is the most interesting thing you learned while writing the Sub series?
I think what I learned when writing this series is writing itself. Sub-Mission was one of the first stories I ever worked on, and it was the first one that got published in May 2012, so well over three years ago. I knew nothing about writing back then. All I had were pushy characters and lots and lots of ideas, but I didn’t have a clue about the technical
aspects of writing—Show, Don’t Tell, go easy on the adverbs and all that jazz. I never actually planned to become a published author either, that just sort of happened. Because writing is immensely addictive, I kept writing and I believe five years, numerous editors and twenty-eight books taught me a lot about the craft and how the industry works. Ménage and open relationships combined with very explicit sex scenes as featured in Sub-Dominant may not be for every reader, but as far as writing technique is concerned, this is probably the best book I’ve ever written.
Do you have any closing remarks that you would like to leave our readers with?
Thank you again for dropping in today and reading about me. Happy and peaceful Holidays!
The Book Description:
Putting a leash on a dominant sub is a task that may require two Doms to accomplish.
When relocation agent Eric Swann is assigned to ease young Connor Prescott into moving back to London, he expects the boy to be more enthusiastic—and less irritating.
Used to roaming freely among his mother’s D-list celebrity friends, Connor is anything but happy when his father decides to put him on a leash—a leash with a far too attractive handler on the other end. Secretly craving a man who knows how to yank his chain and show him exactly where the limits are, Connor does what he’s best at. He manipulates Eric into giving him what he wants, making the man reveal a side of him that Eric himself isn’t ready to accept.
Trained by one of the quirkiest Dom/sub-teams in the country, Dom Tyler Kane knows exactly how to handle a toppy sub. He keeps Connor on his toes, er, knees, in the bedroom, but when his capricious lover sets his heart on pushing yet another limit, Tyler finds himself not only with a dominant sub but also with a Dom who has yet to accept his true identity.
Reader Advisory: Due to sexually explicit content this book is intended for adult readers only. Contains scenes in which the main characters are sexually involved with secondary characters and vivid descriptions of unusual sexual practices.
While this book can be read as a standalone novel, it is best enjoyed as part of the series in order of release (Sub-Mission, Re-Submission, Sub-Culture, Sub-Dominant)

Connor smiled at him and nodded. The dreamy expression made his eyes gleam seductively and Eric forced himself to focus on the conversation.
“My experience with guys was good. Sure, it was awkward at first, but I’ve always felt good with a man.”
Eric raised his eyebrows. “Always? You’re eighteen, for crying out loud. How many men have you been with?”
Connor made a face and avoided Eric’s gaze. “A few. How many have you been with?”
“This isn’t about me.”
“Why not? Why don’t I get to ask questions?”
Eric sighed. “Okay, fine. I’m twenty-six, and I’ve probably been with…a few more men than you have.” He waggled his eyebrows when Connor looked at him.
The young man laughed. “You big chicken!”
“I’m not a big chicken, but I do have a big—” Eric bit his tongue. Shit. That wasn’t the kind of comment he should be making in his young charge’s presence.
Connor didn’t seem fazed. “I noticed. Are you a shower or a grower?”
“Um… A bit of both. It grows some more but—Seriously, Connor, this is TMI. We shouldn’t be talking about these things.”
“Why? What’s wrong with two guys comparing the size of their dicks?”
“We’re not comparing the size of our dicks!”
Connor smirked. “Aren’t we? I know where you’ll be looking when I get up to use the restroom.”
“Connor! For fuck’s sake, sit down!”
A sweet, sinful smile on his face, Connor stood up, making sure to linger with his groin at Eric’s eye level before he turned around with an unnecessary amount of butt-wiggling, then he stalked off. The boy was either at least half erect or blessed.
When he returned, Connor’s smile was still in place and even naughtier than before. Head held high and back straight, he turned the narrow aisle to their table into some sort of fashion runway. Stopping right in front of Eric, he tilted his hip to give him an eyeful of his bulging groin before he sat down.
“Can you guess?”
Eric gritted his teeth. “Guess what?”
“Whether I’m a shower or a grower.”
“I can’t guess. I haven’t even thought about it.”
“Liar.” Connor pouted, but amusement danced in his voice. “You’ve been thinking about it ever since I mentioned it, and you thought about it before. Did you imagine me naked?”
“Connor! Shut up now, will you? We’re not alone here.”
Connor tilted his head and looked up from underneath those ridiculous charcoal lashes. “Do you want to go back to my room? We’ll be all alone there.” Green sparks glittered in the dim light, teasing him, challenging him. Eric had known it was coming and had tried to be ready when it did, but Connor still took him by surprise with this alcohol-fuelled come-on.
“I don’t think that’s such a good idea.” Eric forced the words out, watching Connor’s full, slightly parted lips. He’d been thinking about kissing those lips more than once during the last weeks and even more
often on that evening. The thought of feeling them on other parts of his anatomy had his blood racing to those parts.
“I know you want to,” Connor breathed and leaned across the table, stopping only inches from Eric’s face, almost close enough for a kiss.
“Connor, really, I—”
“I’ll let you put it anywhere you want.”
“I’m not putting anything anywhere except you to bed. Alone. We’re leaving. Now.” He signalled for the bill, secretly grateful for the delay as his body and mind needed a few minutes to calm down. Connor sat with his arms folded across his chest, pouting.
When Eric had paid, he got up and glared down at Connor. “We’re going back to the hotel now. No acting up, no discussion. If you pull any of your usual stroppy shit on me, I’m going to drag you along by the scruff of the neck. Got that?” He marched off towards the door without even checking if Connor was following him. Outside, he waited just long enough for Connor to catch up with him, then he led the way down the road.
“Fuck, Eric,” Connor panted. “Slow down a bit, will you? I was joking, okay? Don’t be mad at me.”
“I’m not mad at you but I am taking you back to your hotel now.”
“Don’t you wanna get a cab?”
Eric scoffed. “The hotel is just around the corner. The walk will do you good.”
Connor grumbled, but followed him without any more fuss. He kept quiet until they were inside the building and waiting for the elevator to arrive. “What are you afraid of, big boy?” he whispered suddenly.
