When an author can take a short story and give it all of the aspects of a much longer book, you really have to applaud said author. A.V. Sanders did that with this book and then she added an established couple on top of it. I read an intriguing story, I was able to find out how the couple met, the characters were able to provide the story in a fulfilling manner and it wrapped up beautifully at the end with a little surprise.
Reid is an expert on sharks and it is really his passion (I know…I thought crazy), it is not just his passion for sharks it is his commitment to finding a way to let humanity and sharks live side by side. I thought the ideas that Reid had were very commendable and added a depth to the story that was a bit unexpected, it really played to the Ecoist in me.
Graham is your typical surfer while also working in the family catering business, although not happy or certain that he wants to continue working it with his Mother.
The story takes place during the Pre-Holiday Christmas preparations and Reid is feeling especially homesick for the American Christmas that he knows. He isn’t used to having Christmas in the middle of Summer. Graham being the loving partner he is works hard at bringing the Christmas joy to Reid. With the help of family and friends it does bring the holiday spirit to the book.
Happy Christmas in July to Everyone!
Reid, an American shark research scientist, is in Perth, Australia working to develop a mobile app that may revolutionize shark safety practices. But even the company of his boyfriend, Graham, isn’t enough to stave off homesickness as Christmas approaches, and a missing shark and Graham’s struggling business seem set to ruin the holiday for good.
