What a horror for Matt. His lover, Aaron, has been in a serious accident and is in a coma. He has been in this coma for 2 years.
Matt has been the diligent lover, by his beside as much as possible, talking to him, and praying for Aaron to come back to him. Three months ago, however, things changed. Matt met Steve and they immediately hit it off, so much so that they are talking about future plans. They have a lot in common, and have fun together, which is something that Matt has needed since the accident. One small problem presents itself on evening as Matt and Steve are in bed. A phone call comes to Matt informing him that Aaron has regained consciousness.
This throws Matt’s world into turmoil, as you can well imagine. All of a sudden, Matt has to make a decision he thought had been made for him by fate. But this decision is not going to be easy. He feels love, and also guilt regarding Aaron. He certainly deserves more than to be told he is alone again. Matt hasn’t the heart to do that. But his relationship with Steve is such, that giving that up is equally as hard. And both Aaron and Steve have vowed to keep Matt in their lives, which just makes the whole situation even worse. Matt is in a position he never dreamed he would be in, and is having a lot of trouble dealing with.
He really doesn’t want to make the decision. But things sometimes do have a way of working themselves out, and this story is of the angst and frustration that the three main characters go through as Matt is pressured to make a decision, and of the trust and honesty that is displayed by Aaron and Steve when they help make the decision for Matt. After a heart-to-heart, all out honest discussion, they come up with a possible answer to the problem.
The romance expands, and the story ends in a wonderful way. This was a fun, but at times hard to read story, in that you can’t help but feel sorry for Matt, but at the same time, you want him to make a decision. And depending on the reader, the outcome could be quite different. But the way the story is finally resolved is a wonderful bit of writing and imagination. I am a big fan of Taylor Brooks. I like the way she thinks, and puts those thoughts onto paper.
This book is so well thought out and written. You feel the emotion, the angst and frustration, and the joy and love that weave throughout the story.
